    Tarrant County

    One of the more populous counties in Texas, Tarrant county boasts over 2 million within its 900 square miles. The Sundance Square Plaza is now the centerpiece of downtown Fort Worth, the seat of Tarrant County, Some of the other attractions include Fort Worth Zoo, Six Flags Over Texas, Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, Kimbell Art Museum, and Texas Motor Speedway. University of Texas at Arlington, Texas A&M University, Texas Christian University, and Texas Wesleyan University are a few of the over 30 colleges, universities, trade schools, and institutes in Tarrant County. Hardwoods such as American elm, pecan, and box elder are found throughout most of the county along rivers and creeks. Exposed rock formations in the area are almost exclusively of the Cretaceous period. Mineral resources are sand, gravel, stone, and natural gas.
